Death Valley

Death Valley is hot, obviously. But it's hard to communicate the special intensity of the heat. It's not a place to be without a functioning air conditioner. But if I had a week with a camera and nothing else to do, I think I'd rather spend it here than in Yosemite. Of course, I'd shoot only at the break of dawn and at sunset and take a long siesta by the air conditioner in the middle of the day, but it's a fantasically unique place. As I say in my blog intro: "There is no place where God is not."

This is a dry lake bed which lies below sea level with the mountains beyond.
