Mt. Angel Abbey

In Mt. Angel, Oregon, the Benedictine nuns live in town, while the monks live high on the hill. This is beautiful Mt. Angel Abbey, worship home for the monks, for their seminary students, and for anyone else who wishes to join them for their 7-times-a-day worship services.

Given the patriarchy in both church and society, it's not surprising that the nuns got the valley and the monks got the hill. It will take some time before we all stop assuming that men naturally deserve the highest spot, the greatest prestige, the last word, the supreme power, and the most money.

See Sabbatical Crosses (and others). Order prints, etc.
