Windsock

Jesus: "The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

As always, I take delight in the near certainty that no one has ever made a cross out of leadplant before.

Rows of color

How many billions of wild sunflowers are there? We're currently in Colorado, and the 600 miles of highways we traveled to get here are all lined with sunflowers. Gorgeous!

Sunflowers and colorful tall grass prairie

It was probably 7 or 8 years ago that I stood on this spot with my Olympus 3mp point-and-shoot and took the "purple prairie grass" picture that has been published in newspapers and is used extensively at Homestead National Monument of America. That's the image on the top today.

I've always wanted to return to the same spot, at the same time, to try to duplicate that photo. Below is my attempt from a couple weeks ago. The colors here are more varied than the purple of the original, and the quality of the photograph is much higher, but it's a matter of taste whether or not this one is more pleasing than the old one.
