Scrap metal 3

I designed this deadly cross for Good Friday, but perhaps it also works for the last day of the year. With the downturn in the economy, we can all celebrate that 2008 is finished and will be transformed into something better and new in 2009. Happy New Year!

Scrap metal 2

Scrap metal gets transformed into new, useful metal objects. That's what the cross does for us as well.

Junk and Hope

Through the cross, our junk is transformed into hope!

Junk

Since this is what Jesus taught us to pray, making the earth a better place is not a hopeless task.

From Junk to Joy: Merry Christmas!

Scrap metal

This is what the cross is about: transforming junk into structure and beauty. Did you ever think about the fact that these places are called "salvage" yards?

Salve--Salvage--Salvation: same word!

Long Point

This is the "long point" from which Twillingate's Long Point lighthouse gets its name.

It might be too late to order your 2009 CruxPhotos calendar for Christmas, but it will still come in plenty of time for the New Year. Just click on the link at the right.

Twillingate house under construction

No place to dig a basement! You just build your foundation around the rocks.

Wild Irises, Twillingate

Wild irises on Twillingate Island, near the Long Point lighthouse.

Stubborn life and defiant color in a rocky landscape--a sign of hope!

Anglican graveyard fence

The security in this graveyard has nothing to do with the fence!

Anglican cemetery

The white gravestones of St. Peter's Anglican Church cemetery at Twillingate, Newfoundland contrast nicely with the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean beyond.

Though the aesthetics of the cemetery won't matter much to me once I'm in one, I've never seen a better place to rest than this.
